There are several positive elements in the new government policy programme from the perspective of the biosolutions industry. These include strengthening entrepreneurs’ access to risk capital, promoting plant-based foods, and supporting companies developing new technologies and solutions in scaling up and remaining in Europe.

According to Alliance for Biosolutions, one of the government’s first key priorities should be to create the right framework conditions for scaling and commercialising biosolutions. At the same time, the alliance has a clear message for the new government:

“Geopolitical conflicts, supply chain crises, and a growing competition for resources remind us that Denmark must be able to produce more of what we depend on – not least within food and new technologies. It is positive that the government will focus on food supply security and independence through a new national food strategy in 2027. This is precisely where biosolutions play a crucial role, and why putting a national strategy for biosolutions into action should also be at the top of the government’s agenda,” says Anne Lerche, Managing Director of Alliance for Biosolutions under the Danish Chamber of Commerce.

Alliance for Biosolutions also points out that maintaining biosolutions as a Danish stronghold requires investment and access to risk capital. Here too, the new government policy programme contains positive initiatives.

“Investments in biosolutions are investments in Denmark’s future, competitiveness, and green jobs. That is why it is positive that the government intends to strengthen the financial framework conditions for innovative Danish companies. An Entrepreneurship Package 2.0, an increase in the deposit ceiling for the share savings account (aktiesparekontoen), a Nordic Growth Alliance, and a stronger focus on institutional investments are all important steps if Denmark is to create more world-class green growth companies,” says Anne Lerche, and continues:

“Denmark is already home to some of the world’s leading companies, research environments, and technologies within biosolutions. If Denmark is to maintain its leadership position, it requires targeted political action and a clear signal that biosolutions are a national and European strategic priority on par with life sciences and energy. With the new government policy programme, we are well on our way,” says Anne Lerche.
